Benny Marchant
Benny Marchant is a dynamic young singer-songwriter who has entrenched himself the Los Angeles music scene with a sophisticated, contemporary vibe that speaks to young and old alike about love, loss, journey and victory.
Marchant’s musical journey began in 2003 after graduating with a music degree from Washington College in Chestertown Maryland. Benny’s college band (then called NRG) recorded and played to great audience appeal in the Washington DC area. Following his instincts and seeking more depth and perspective in his songwriting, Marchant packed his well-worn SUV and headed for Nashville to listen, learn and craft his songwriter’s passion.
After three years and scores of new songs, he packed up again and headed for Los Angeles where his songwriting and performing skills gelled together as he formed the alternative rock band, The Kings Royal, which played every major club in LA, peaking with residencies at both the Viper Room and the Whiskey A Go-Go.
Coinciding with the release of their debut album Beginning, The Kings Royal caught the eye of Kevin Martin of Candlebox, who asked the band to tour nationally with them in the summer of 2008. After a very successful and critically acclaimed road trip of 40 cities in 60 days the band settled back in LA and thus began the third phase of this musical journey for Benny.
Now under his own name Benny Marchant has slowly and steadily built a reputation amongst tastemakers and music fanatics alike by crafting songs that speak to the heart and the ears. In 2009 Marchant began working with GRAMMY winning producer Joe Chicarelli (Radiohead, White Stripes, Counting Crows), crafting Marchant’s debut album, which is expected to be released late summer 2010, followed by select club engagements and a college tour throughout the United States.
